Enrichment Workshops from Math 010

For: Teachers wanting Queen's undergraduate students to teach math enrichment sessions in elementary schools (Grades 7-8)

Sponsor: Math - Dr. Leo Jonker

Offered: 1 hour/week for 10 weeks (Sept. - Dec.)

Teachers/Principals/School Boards are invited to email Dr. Leo Jonker at leo@mast.queensu.ca if they are interested in acquiring Queen's undergraduate students to teach math enrichment classes. We recommend to the schools that they select the top 1/4 or 1/3 of their class. Queen's students will go out once a week for ten weeks, in pairs, to a local elementary school assigned to them, to provide an enrichment class to a group of students from grades 7 and 8. In most cases, the two grades are combined, and the schools are expected to select the students who may take the enrichment. If the schools are not close to Queen's University, they may be asked to contribute to Queen's students' transportation costs.

Math 010 is intended for Queen's undergraduate students who are preparing for or are hoping to prepare for elementary teaching and is taught by Dr. Leo Jonker. The course meets three times a week for one-hour lectures. To find out more about the course, please click below
