Registration for QUIP Students
FAQs
Q. What are the internship courses?
A. While you're on internship you need to register in APSC 301 (Spring/Summer), APSC 302 (Fall), APSC 303 (Winter) and APSC 304 (Spring/Summer). These courses allow the Faculty office to grade you on your internship and they also hold your registration here at Queen's while you're away.
Q. How do I register in the internship courses?
A. Before you leave, submit 2 separate registration forms, one for APSC 301 & one for APSC 304. The Faculty office will add these courses for you, using these forms.
Internship students use QCard to add APSC 302 & APSC 303. This needs to be done within the appropriate dates and times. Most interns will add these courses during preregistration in the spring.
Q. Will my department know I'm going on internship?
A. Yes, Career Services handles the master list of Applied Science students who are going on internship. Please keep in mind you'll be automatically loaded into your CORE COURSES for the next academic session. During preregistration you should log onto QCard to DROP those courses. If you do not drop your core courses you will incur extra tuition costs and possibly late fees!
Q. What are the fees for internship courses?
A. Internship fees can change from year to year and are based on Domestic or International tuition rates. Internship students are considered Part-Time. For up-to-date amounts, contact the Office of the University Registrar. You can at visit the tuition fees webpage at: http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/fees/.
NOTE: if you decide to take a correspondence course while you're on internship - - your fees will increase accordingly!
Q. When I have completed my internship what do I do?
A. The spring before you plan to return to classes, contact your department (Civil, Mech, Mining, Elec, etc.). Let them know you're coming back in the fall! The Undergraduate Assistant in your department will be able to help.
