Financing your Education

There's no doubt that a Queen's engineering degree is a great investment with lifelong rewards, but we understand that for many students and their families, the initial cost of a university education is a serious consideration. Ensuring that all academically qualified students can attend Queen's and complete their degrees - regardless of their financial situation - is a fundamental tenet of our university. Below is a list, with links, of the available options.

Scholarships: These are merit-based awards. Some require applications (the Major Entrance Awards and Other Entrance awards) while the Grades-based Entrance Scholarships are automatically awarded on the basis of your academic marks leaving high school. Details are provided at Student Awards.

Bursaries: These are needs-based awards. If you have a demonstrated financial need then you will be eligible for these non-repayable grants. For more information about needs-based funding check out the Bursaries information at Student Awards.

Work Study program: This is a program involving financial aid for full-time students through part-time work on campus. Visit the work programs link at Student Awards for more information.

External Options and Awards: You may qualify for support from government student assistance programs, or from financial institutions through a student line of credit. There are also many external awards offered by outside agencies and organizations that might be need-based or merit-based or both!
