Design Teams

Mini Baja Team
In 2008, the team attracted students from every academic year and a variety of engineering disciplines. Pictured above are the members and the car at a competition in Montreal, Quebec.

Queen's engineers design, build and test everything from solar-powered cars and radio-controlled sailboats, to concrete toboggans and SAE formula racing cars. Aside from representing the seriously fun side of engineering, these activities provide students with the experience of being part of an interdisciplinary design team, and exposes them to the planning and manufacturing processes required to bring a new product to market.

Queen's engineers also have the reputation of being very successful on the competition side of these design projects. For example, in 2007, the Queen's Mini Baja team returned with top ten overall finishes at each of the three North American competitions. News story on the success of the Baja Team.
